Well-known British independent school Eton College announced Friday that it would deliver online Eton-style courses to its cooperative partner schools in China.Eton College, the famous single-sex boy's boarding school in Berkshire, south England, has educated 19 British prime ministers, including the current British Prime Minister David Cameron, and generations of the aristocracy, as well as elites of political, financial fields. British royal family members, such as Prince William is also a former student of the school.

The school said Friday that its subsidiary Eton Online Ventures has jointly worked with technology company Eighteen 70 to establish a new company called EtonX.

EtonX would partner with leading schools in China to deliver courses build on Eton's style of education. The project will be launched this September in China with the Modern Leadership Program which will focus on key skills development in areas such as communication and collaboration.

The program will consist of components, including an interactive online learning platform with multimedia content developed by Eton, one-to-one live online tuition delivered by Eton-trained tutors based in Britain, and in-class collaborative small group activities which are facilitated by teachers from the students' own school.

Eton said teachers would also travel to China to train and collaborate with local teachers taking part in the program.

"Eton has a long history educating students to the highest standard. Through EtonX we will be able to share our best teaching practices and our tested course program with Chinese teachers and give Chinese students the opportunity to practice their collaboration and communication skills. We're excited to take Eton into this new online project," said James Stanforth, head of Digital Education at Eton.

The fee for this one-to-one live tutoring would cost 700 pounds (1,111.5 US dollars) each semester for every student. Almost a dozen schools in China will be involved in the project initially.
