Didi Kuaidi Company is considering offering carpooling through its mobile taxi-hailing apps in order to raise taxis' and drivers' revenue while lowering passengers' expenses. But the Shanghai Urban Transportation Administrative Department told the Metro Express that while it encourages innovative ideas to solve the traffic problems of congestion and difficulties in hailing taxis from the sidewalk, carpooling is not allowed in Shanghai's taxi industry.
