Produced by the Institute of World History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the documentary describes the different attitudes and reflections of Japan and Germany toward their crimes in WWII. It was initially broadcast on China Central Television in Chinese in early June.

The documentary used abundant historic records and interviews with politicians, scholars and ordinary people from China, Japan and Germany to demonstrate the different historical impact generated by the different attitudes of the two countries.

It has since received wide attention, with observers saying that the multilingual versions would help people across the world to ponder upon historical facts and reflect on the war.
