Li Zhi, a former senior official in China's Northwest Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC), China's top disciplinary watchdog announced on Monday.

An official investigation found Li, former deputy head of the standing committee of the Regional People's Congress of Xinjiang, had "seriously" violated Party discipline with a fake resume and false age, read a statement from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection ((CCDI)) of the CPC.

Li reportedly accepted a large number of bribes, sought benefits for others in official selection and appointments as well as in the operation of companies, the CCDI said.
