Hong Kong director Barbara Wong's latest film, super natural romance The Secret, has finished shooting and is set to hit big screens on December 11, according to a press conference held in Beijing by the film's production company Zhen Hengye on Monday.

According to Wong, the story involves a man (Hong Kong actor Leon Lai Ming) who loses his wife (Mainland actress Wang Luodan) in an avalanche during an anniversary trip. Unable to move past his loss, his wife returns as a ghost to live with him.

At the press conference, Wong recalled the event that inspired her to make the film.

After her own father died last year, her step-mother asked her during lunch one time whether her father was at home. Looking at the meal, Wong realized that all the dishes were her father's favorites.

"Many people believe in the existence of life after death," Wong explained.

Wong's first romance since her moving film The Stolen Years in 2013, the film was filmed in part among the snowy mountains of Yunnan Province and in Taipei, Taiwan.
