Beijing and Shanghai launched a new tax rebate policy on July 1 to encourage foreign travelers to shop in China by offering them an 11 percent tax rebate on purchases of consumer goods. Galeries Lafayette Beijing Department Store was one of the first foreign-invested enterprises where foreign tourists could take advantage of China's new tax rebate.

Since July, the department store has offered the tax rebate to international visitors on all consumer items except those from the gourmet shop. It also has launched a special in-store sale, offering all customers a discount of up to 70 percent on select items in addition to the 11 percent rebate for foreign tourists.

In the store, visitors can not only explore fine offerings from globally-renowned brands, but also discover the unique work of talented Chinese designers, much of which is exclusively available at Galeries Lafayette Beijing.

Galeries Lafayette also holds regular events to demonstrate its appreciation for local designers.
