Pictured is a gallery of a celebrity wax museum in Huaying mountain, Sichuan Province on Saturday. The Madame Tussauds-esque establishment recently received widespread ridicule from Chinese netizens, which they dubbed "ugliest wax museum" for its off-putting representations of well-known celebrities. Zhang Shouxiang, sculptor of the wax figures, told Guangzhou Daily on Monday that the statues were meant to resemble celebrities "without makeup." Zhang said he created the collection seven or eight years ago. A dozen celebrity figures, such as Chinese actresses Zhang Ziyi and Gong Li, were removed from the museum's displays on Monday.
