Eighteen homes in a residential community in Chaoyang district caught fire on September 22. At least five people were injured, including one 61-year-old man who is currently in a coma, the Beijing News reported.

The police reported that they suspect the fire may have been the result of arson, and two suspects have been detained. The suspects will face a sentence of at least three years and will need to pay for the damages and medical fees, according to Wang Dianxue, a Beijing-based lawyer. Repair work on the damaged houses is now underway.
