A unique charity concert bringing the masterpiece "Butterfly Lovers Concerto" conducted by Maestro He Zhanhao was performed in Singapore on Sunday.

Besides the globally-renowned masterpiece, the charity concert also included Chinese classic music like "Three Melodies of Yunnan ", and "Silk Road", which were played by an orchestra of 70 multiracial performers from Chinese Music Academy in Singapore.

Organized by Business School, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Chinese Music Academy in Singapore, the charity concert raised money to support financially-needy students to further their educational pursuits. Meanwhile, the concert also celebrated Singapore's golden jubilee as well as the 25th anniversary of China-Singapore diplomatic relations.

Singapore's Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Manpower Sam Tan graced the concert, which marked the first time that NUS Business School has held a charity concert.

"We are very honored to have the support of Maestro He Zhanhao, an international icon of Chinese classical music. The concert has allowed us to bring together people to do good through music." said Xu Yiping, Principal and Director of the Chinese Music Academy in Singapore.

Through donors' pledges and dollar-for-dollar matching by the government, the charity concert has raised more than 500,000 Singapore dollars (349,050 US dollars), according to Vice Dean of Graduate Studies NUS Business School Susanna Leong at the concert.
