Two Palestinians were shot dead by Israel's fire Saturday evening in Hebron, south of the West Bank and at Jerusalem's Qalandia checkpoint, Palestinian and Israeli sources said.

Khaled Dodin, director of the Hebron mayor office, told Xinhua that a 20-year-old Palestinian was shot dead by the Israeli army's fire near the Israeli settlement of Kiryat Arba. The army still holds the young man's body.

The Israeli public radio said that a soldier was wounded with light to moderate injuries after being stabbed by the Palestinian man before being killed.

The radio stated that another stabbing was carried out by a Palestinian near Qalandia checkpoint to the north of Jerusalem.

Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said that the man attempted to stab an Israeli policeman with a knife when he was shot. He added that the police officer wasn't hurt because he was wearing a vest.

Israeli army spokesperson Peter Lerner said on his Twitter account that the Palestinian man drew "a second knife" to stab a bombs expert who came to inspect the man.

Clashes were reported in several areas in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip between Palestinian protesters and the Israeli security forces. Palestinian sources said many Palestinians were injured.

The death of the two Palestinian stabbing attackers came as two other Palestinians were shot dead by Israeli soldiers and a settler on Saturday morning in east Jerusalem and the West Bank, according to Israeli officials.

In the first attack, an Israeli settler shot dead a Palestinian youth in the West Bank city of Hebron after the teen allegedly attempted to stab him with a knife.

Palestinian Ma'an news identified the assailant as 18-year-old Fadel al-Kawatsmi and confirmed his death.

The Palestinian governor of Hebron province said that the young man's body is still held by the Israeli army.

The city of Hebron harbored some 500 Israeli settlers who live under army protection but are surrounded by nearly 200,000 Palestinians.

Half an hour later, a second Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli police in the Armon HaNatziv neighborhood of the annexed east Jerusalem, police said.

The 16-year-old Palestinian pulled out a knife at Border Police officers after they asked him to present his ID card.

The Palestinian health ministry said that Israel killed 43 Palestinians; 29 from the West Bank and 14 from the Gaza Strip, since the beginning of October. More than two thousand Palestinians were injured with live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets.

The Israeli radio said that seven Israelis were killed and more than 92 injured; 10 of them are in critical condition, following a series of stabbing and shooting attacks carried out by Palestinians.

Also on Saturday, Ahmad Majdalani, member of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) executive committee, called upon member countries of the UN Security Council to vote for sending international observers to the Palestinian territories.

He told Xinhua that the voting is scheduled next Wednesday adding that the Palestinians and Arabs are conducting deliberations with member states to urge countries to adopt the resolution submitted by Jordan.

Majdalani explained that the draft resolution was put forth by the Palestinian leadership and focuses mainly on placing Palestinians under international protection in order to "cease the continuous Israeli crimes against the Palestinians."

The UN security council held an emergency session on Friday to discuss the escalating violence between Palestinians and Israelis in light of the continuous tension that broke out in the beginning of October.

Earlier in the day, the PLO called on a UN rapporteur to investigate the Israeli killing of Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, as the growing violence is consuming more lives day by day.

The secretary-general of the PLO executive committee, Saeb Erekat, addressed a letter to the UN rapporteur, Christopher Heinz, asking for an investigation in those killings.

"The photos and videos taken over the past three weeks are clearly showing how Israelis executed the Palestinians in cold blood, and this is a clear evidence for the humiliation that the Palestinian wounded are facing," Erekat said, adding the international community should condemn these measures.

Erekat also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deceiving the international community and tricking it by justifying the illegal policy of escalation and violence against Palestinians.

Erekat's remarks came as Palestinians' stabbing attacks against Israeli forces and Jewish settlers continued on Saturday, in the latest of which at least three more Palestinians lost their lives to Israeli responsive firing.
