China has called for the upcoming Paris Climate Conference to realistically address the difference in capabilities and responsibilities between developed and developing countries.

The country hopes the gathering of world leaders later this month will stick to the principles outlined in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said at a news briefing on Wednesday.

"The principles of equity, common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities should be highlighted, as ... developed countries have made a greater historical contribution to climate change," said Liu.
