A man surnamed Lu was recently detained for shooting the windows of residential buildings and parked cars with a slingshot in Xicheng district. The police caught Lu with the help of an elderly woman living in the community, who saw Lu using the slingshot, the Beijing Times reported.

Lu said he was playing with the slingshot to relieve pressure. He said that his wife was suffering from blood cancer, and he took her to Beijing from Shanxi Province for treatment, which made him feel tired and depressed. To feel better, he started to play with the slingshot in his spare time. Lu claimed that he only shot at the leaves on trees, but underestimated the power of the steel shots.

Lu is now under arrest for jeopardizing public safety, and he faces three years in jail if convicted.
