China on Monday unveiled a plan to reorganize the four military headquarters responsible for staff, politics, logistics and armaments into 15 new agencies under the  Central Military Commission (CMC). The reshuffle makes clearer the three principles of the absolute authority of the CMC, battle zone commands focused on combat, and each branch of the military service pursuing its own ends. Thus military reform has been further advanced.

The new structure highlights the absolute authority of the Party over the military, ensuring that the Party will uphold its firm command of the gun. The reform is comprehensive, profound and has great vision.

The four headquarters had contributed tremendously to military development in the past decades, however, it is time to change.

The Chinese military should have firm political faith and the right political stance. However, they must undertake reform, which is driven by the world's vicissitude, military revolutions across the globe and the heavier task to safeguard China's defense and security.

The Chinese military must be more loyal and competent. It should provide safety assurance to national development and improving livelihoods while at the same time it bears increasing responsibility for world peace.

Though it has not been engaged in war for over 20 years, the Chinese military has been dedicated to ensuring peace for Chinese people.

This signifies that China is able to choose its own development path, that Chinese national interests are respected and that China can stand up over matters of principle because China has a powerful military force.

Besides the reform to restructure Chinese military service branches and the military command reshuffle, there may be more reforms to come.

They are carried out not for short-term interests, but to meet the long-term demands of national rejuvenation.

If a modern military cannot constantly rejuvenate itself, it will stumble at some critical juncture.

Therefore, the military should keep evolving its command system, which is key for China to modernize its national defense. This is also a consensus of Chinese society.

Any reform to military structure is usually more sensitive than to other organizations. But China has made great strides in this aspect.

It is inspiring to the whole of society. This military reform will serve as a driving force for reforms in other fields.
