On January 14, the Peruvian Embassy in Beijing held an event to promote the country's mango imports to China that drew dozens of entrepreneurs, members of the media and others.

Juan Carlos Capuñay, the Peruvian Ambassador to China, gave a speech in which he welcomed the guests, invited them to taste some Peruvian mangos and provided a sunny outlook on the future of more Peruvian fruit imports to the Chinese market.

"Last year, the Peruvian mango had a very good year [in the Chinese market], and I think this year will be even better," he said.

The ambassador also revealed that Peru is now the second-largest exporter of grapes to China, and said that, following Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Peru last year, China will see a major boost in avocado imports from Peru.
