An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale jolted southern Alaska of the United States at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday Beijing Time, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 120 km, was monitored at 59.71 degrees north latitude and 153.51 degrees west longitude, said the center.
