Myanmar gov't provides relief supplies to two fire-hit areas

Myanmar government has provided relief supplies and cash assistance to two huge fire-hit areas in Shan State and Ayeyawaddy region in Myanmar, official media reported Saturday.

Myanmar President U Thein Sein flew to Namhsan in northern Shan State while Vice President U Nyan Tun to Labutta in Ayeyawaddy region to assist in the relief and recovery tasks on Friday, said the Global New Light of Myanmar.

The government will cover sending relief aids, setting up temporary tents, distributing clothes, family kits, supplying text books to students and reopening of schools, assisting the students in taking examination and health care services.

The fire occurred in Namhsan in northern Shan State over the last two days continued until Friday morning, leaving about 300 families homeless.

The fire in Labutta of Ayeyawady Region on the same day ultimately destroyed 179 houses and more than 20 fishery shops, leaving 761 people homeless. There was no injured nor causalities in the fire.

Temporary shelters have been set up to accommodate fire victims in two disaster-hit areas.
