A woman in East China's Zhejiang Province who made an ATM withdrawal before a trip was left a few hundred short after maintenance workers accidentally left test notes in the machine.

The customer, surnamed Xu, said she received three of the paper notes while making a 10,000 yuan ($1,546) withdrawal at the ATM in the city of Jiaxing on Friday, hangzhou.com reported.

The bill appeared to be the same size as a 100-yuan note,  bearing the words "Test Note" in Chinese. 

Xu immediately called police, who contacted the bank after reviewing surveillance footage taken near the ATM.

It was later revealed that workers from Yintong, an ATM maintenance company, had recently used test notes while repairing the machine. 

The bank said that they would investigate the case and refund Xu the 300 yuan she was out.
