Hundreds of crazy fans of Chinese singer-actor Lu Han waited for hours on Shanghai's Bund for a chance to take a photo - with a mailbox.

Ahead of his solo show Saturday, the 25-year-old former member of mega boy band EXO uploaded a selfie on Weibo in which he appears leaning against the China Post box. "Today is Friday, I was here. See you tomorrow," read his post.

Within an hour of his 11 pm post fans were already making their pilgrimage to East-1 Zhongshan Road, said an area security guard, surnamed You.

By morning the line soon grew to around "200 or 300 meters," You added.

So many had collected to touch the mailbox that its green paint was wearing off, according to WeChat account "Shanghai Post Portable Business."

"To walk the way he walked and to see the view he saw made me feel closer to him," one fan waiting in line said.

The box has since seen more letters - many of them fan mail, according to the China Post.
