To encourage more quality international co-produced films, awards aimed at the companies and personnel behind co-productions, the Golden Screen Awards, will be given out at this year's US-China Film & Television Industry Expo (UCFTI Expo) in November in Los Angeles, according to a press conference held at the 6th Beijing International Film Festival on Tuesday.

Established in 2014, UCFTI is a platform showcasing equipment, hardware, software and service providers from both the Chinese and US entertainment industries. Additionally, since its establishment the Expo has cultivated young talents through UCFTI Film Competition awards, the latest of which will announce its winners on November 3.

"We, serving as a tie connecting the Sino-US film and TV industry chain, have been providing great support for the development of the film and TV industry in the two countries in the past three years," Bianca Chen, CEO of the UCFTI Expo, said at the press conference. She added that since last year, more than 100 film projects and scripts, eight of them a mix of Sino-US co-productions  and independent Hollywood productions, were submitted to UCFTI.

"Currently, one sci-fi film has finished shooting. It will reach audiences along with several animated films in 2018."

The third UCFTI Expo will be held in Los Angeles on November 2 and 3.
