The Buddhist Association of China has revealed the second group of verified living Buddhas via its online system.

Authorities say so far they have finished verification most living Buddhas in China and created a complete database.

Living Buddhas, sometimes called Tulkus, are holy men considered reincarnations of Tibetan Buddhist luminaries.

The system, first launched this January, was put in place to counter fake living Buddhas who have been found cheating believers for money and undermining the reputation of living Buddhas and Tibetan Buddhism.

Another 441 verified living Buddhas have been added to the verified list of the first group of 870 living Buddhas.

The database includes names, religious names, date of birth, and sects of the religion, as well as the living Buddhas certificate numbers and photos.

The database was created after an incident involving Wu Darong who sought to hold a living Buddha enthronement ceremony for Chinese actor Zhang Tielin.

Wu was later exposed as a fake living Buddha.

Originating from the 13th century AD, reincarnation of living Buddhas is a unique inheritance system in Tibetan Buddhism.

Since 2010, the Buddhist Association of China began to issue certificates to living Buddhas.
