Chinese young artist Tian Xiaolei walked away with the first Wang Shikuo Award, named after one of the most important artists in China from the Yan'an Period (1935-47), on Saturday at Beijing's Today Art Museum. Tian stood out from nine other competitors including Huang Shitao, Liu Xianghua and Liu Rui with his video works Creating and Poems.

The jury consisted of seven experts, including Today Art Museum curator Gao Peng, as well as nine public judges.

Works from the 10 nominated artists will be on display at the museum until June 26.
