Qianjiang City in Hubei Province has officially become China's biggest exporter of crayfish, selling a huge amount of the delicacy last year. 

According to figures released Tuesday, the city exported crayfish worth 190 million U.S. dollars in 2015, accounting for more than 60 percent of the entire crayfish export revenue of Hubei. 

Revenue from crayfish sold online exceeded 100 million yuan (15 million U.S. dollars) last year, according to the Qianjiang government. 

Crayfish are a popular delicacy in China, usually served very spicy and consumed with a bottle of beer on hot summer nights. 

Qianjiang, on the Yangtze River, has a perfect environment for crayfish, with rivers, lakes. The industry has received government support since 2001. 

The city government will continue to help the industry in e-commerce and logistics, hoping to reach annual production of 4 billion crayfish by 2020. 

A crayfish festival will be held in Qianjiang next month.
