Firefighters in South China's Fujian Province were called to free a man from a washing machine after his head became wedged in the drum while attempting to fix it.

It took a team of six firefighters 40 minutes to rescue the man, who was not named, by carefully saw through the dryer along its edge, news site fjsen.com reported.

The man told his rescuers he had been inspecting the appliance's drum after it stopped working.

His friends and roommates called police when they tried to pull his head out but failed.
