The Church of the Holy Cross in Warsaw is also the final resting place for the heart of the Warsaw-born composer Fryderyk Chopin. Chopin left Poland when he was 20 and never returned. He settled in Paris, and was ultimately buried there after his death, but his heart was sent back to Poland where it remains today. Polish guide Piotr Karpinski explained to Global Times reporter that Chopin has two birthdays. His Polish baptismal records state his birthday as February 22, but according to the artist himself and his family, his birthday is March 1. Today Polish people celebrate Chopin’s birthday anniversary starting on February 22 and ending on March 1. Photo: Song Shengxia/GT
