On June 24, Park Hyatt Beijing delivered books and school supplies raised over the last year to four primary schools in Chicheng county, Hebei Province.

The four schools are Dongmao Town Wanquansi Primary School, Paoliang Township Central Primary School, Baicao Town Central Primary School and Baicao Town Taoyang Primary School, all located in impoverished mountainous areas.

Since 2009, Park Hyatt Beijing has joined hands with commonweal organization The Library Project to donate libraries for schools in impoverished mountainous areas. In August, 2015, the two parties jointly introduced the charity activity of One Room, One Book. Park Hyatt Beijing donates one book to the primary schools in need when it rents one room. As of November 31, 2015, the hotel has sold 20, 021 guest rooms, which means that over 20,000 books will be donated to the four schools to build libraries.

The volunteers from Park Hyatt Beijing drove five hours to reach Chicheng county from Beijing, classified and numbered the donated books, and put them on bookshelves. Afterwards, these volunteers served as teachers and read stories to the children and played interactive games with them. The children wrote their wishes on paper planes, and flew their dreams into the sky with their expectations for the future and thirst for knowledge.

"Books tell us how to take the next step and realize our dreams. Only by reading one more book, can we be one step closer to our dreams," said Paul Wright, the general manager of Park Hyatt Beijing. "Since its establishment, Park Hyatt Beijing has actively participated in charity programs of The Library Project and has donated a large number of books to children in impoverished mountainous areas and built libraries for them, so as to encourage children to actively read and bravely pursue their dreams."

In the future, Park Hyatt Beijing will continue to cooperate with The Library Project to donate more books to children, which is a concrete expression of Park Hyatt Beijing to actively practice corporate social responsibility and endeavor to give back to the society.
