On June 26, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai held its annual Canada Day at the Bund Beach. The event focused on bringing the best of Canadian culture to the Huangpu River in Shanghai. Canada Day, July 1, is celebrated annually across Canada and in Canadian communities around the world.

The Bund event saw Canadian and Chinese businesses from the banking and investment sector, the F&B industry and many other foreign and local companies come together to provide entertainment and activities. Beneath the warm summer sun, volleyball, trivia, a watermelon-eating competition, children's games, gymnastics and more kept visitors occupied. It was attended by over 1,000 Canadians, locals and expatriates from other countries.

To showcase the Canadian appreciation for multiculturalism, a wide variety of international cuisine were made available at the dining area, including Canadian, American, Spanish, Mexican and Indonesian foods. Shanghai-based Canadian band Leaves Overseas played their last show at Canada Day.

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai is a member-driven organization supporting Canadian business and community interests. It promotes Canadian culture and Canadian-Chinese relations in Shanghai and China throughout the year.
