After months of waiting, Chinese fans of The Big Bang Theory will finally be able to watch the ninth season of the show on in China. The announcement was made at a launch ceremony for the show, which is showing exclusively on Chinese streaming site Sohu TV, in Beijing on Wednesday.

According to Sohu TV representatives, the service will add new episodes from the 24-episode season every Wednesday and Thursday.

"Now that everyone has started to become used to new regulations concerning streaming content, a second golden age for US TV series in China is sure to come," said Zhang Chaoyang, Sohu TV CEO, at the event. 

According to current regulations from China's media watchdog, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, each season of a show, including foreign TV series, must be reviewed  in its entirety with Chinese subtitles before it is allowed to stream online.

The regulations mean that Chinese fans of foreign shows must wait until after their favorites finish their seasons overseas before they can be streamed in China.

The Big Bang Theory's ninth season ended on May 12 in the US.
