The upcoming total solar eclipse that will occur in China on Wednesday has attracted thousands of foreign tourists to Shanghai, one of the places with “front row seats” for the natural event.

A record 200,000 foreign tourists have arrived in Shanghai from July 16 to July 18, most of who came for the total solar eclipse, according to a report from the People’s Daily.

“We don’t want to miss this once-in-300-year spectacle,” said a teacher surnamed Sun from Macao, where students were organized in summer camps and came to Shanghai to gaze at the total solar eclipse of the sun.

Banners about this natural event can be seen everywhere in Shanghai where the total eclipse will happen at 9:39 am. For most working people in Shanghai, the office will be the best place for them to observe the eclipse.

“I know a lot of people traveling to Shanghai and Hangzhou for it,” said Cage Su, an employee in a foreign company in Shanghai. “But for me, it’s nothing special. My colleagues and I will just watch it from the office and the time is right during working hours. ”
