Zhongyuan Festival, or the Ghost Festival, falls on the 15th day of the seventh month in the Chinese lunar calendar. It’s a festival celebrated to honor family ancestors. Residents of Ziyuan county of South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region release lotus-shaped lanterns on the Zijiang River to lure the ghosts away from their homes.
