Editor's Note:
Wang Qingyang, 41, crafts handmade Guqin, one of China’s oldest musical instruments, in his workshop in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong Province. Wang, a former illustrator, left a 10-year career in Beijing to return home and start his workshop dedicated to the ancient instrument. Also known as the Chinese zither, the seven-string Guqin has strong associations of solace and self-reflection in Chinese literature and culture. Photos: VCG
