Many new pupils attended the First Writing Ceremony (Enlightenment Ceremony) held in Fuzhou, East China’s Fujian Province on September 27, 2017. The theme of the event, “Enlighten with writing; civilize with ceremony”, was to celebrate the 2568th birthday of Confucius, a great educator in ancient China. Dressed in traditional robes, the students bowed to their teachers, painted red dots on their foreheads, beat drums and wrote the Chinese character ren (human). Photos: VCG
