Indian police effectively used elephants as bulldozers to demolish houses and evict illegal settlers from the Amchang Wildlife Sanctuary in India's Assam state on November 27, 2017. According to government officials, the settlements had been driving the animals away from the protected sanctuary into other inhabited areas in search of food, leading to the destruction of crops and deaths.
