Today marks the “Great Heat”, or dashu, the 12th solar term of the Chinese lunar calendar. It begins on July 23 and ends on August 7 this year, and represents the hottest part of the year. A photographer took some photos of the lotus plants at their peak and the brilliant sunsets that occur this time of year over the ancient town of Heshun in Tengchong, SW China's Yunnan Province.
