Xuanxuan has enjoyed local fame as a performer ever since her return from Thailand. She explained that through her performances she hopes to raise awareness and change the widespread cultural opinion toward transgender people who, like everyone else, struggle to realize their own dreams.
Xuanxuan talks with a host during a party at a club in Taiyuan, Shanxi. The 1.8-meter-tall performer sings songs in both male and female voices.
Xuanxuan takes photos with guests during a break at a local club, where she is the most popular singer. Though Xuanxuan said many have a hard time accepting her lifestyle, she is enjoying life, living it as she sees fit.
Xuanxuan models at the Taiyuan International Auto Show on August 6. Apart from singing at clubs, she also performs at restaurants and trade shows.
Xuanxuan tries on new performance clothes in her dorm room. She regularly buys her costumes from Thailand, which cost more than 1,000 yuan ($157.4) each, and sends money back home to her parents every month.
Xuanxuan practices a new song in bed. She described herself as a homebody and likes to stay in during the holidays.
