The Wanda tourism village in the town of Danzhai in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province has driven 56,500 impoverished people out of poverty. With an investment of 2.1 billion yuan ($305 million), the town now has a vocational technical institute and a tourism village based on the culture and industries of the local Miao ethnic group. In April, the Guizhou provincial government announced that the town of Danzhai had beaten poverty. China aims to eradicate absolute poverty nationally by 2020. (Photos: Li Hao/GT)
