Biggest China-France joint nuclear plant opens to public

Local residents and high school students in Taishan, South China’s Guangdong Province visited the Taishan Nuclear Power Plant on Wednesday, on its first day of opening to the public. The Taishan 1 unit came into commercial operation on December 13, 2018, which is the biggest energy project under the cooperation scheme between China and France. It is also the world's first European Pressurized Reactor running commercially. The plant is 130 kilometers from Hong Kong and 67 kilometers from Macao. (Photos: Shan Jie/GT)
