Editor's Note:
The biggest farm produce market in Wuhan city - the Baishazhou market - has maintained its normal operation throughout the lockdown. After the restrictions were lifted, the Baishazhou market remains busy to welcome its customers and vendors. The Xiaodongmen market in Wuchang district continues to be shut. To sell the produce, vendors hoarded vegetables and meat in front of the closed market entrance and waited for the products to be packaged and delivered. In the Wutaizha market, the business is yet to resume, and currently it is undergoing disinfection drives. According to the manager of the Wutaizha market, the market is waiting for further notice to resume its business. No trade of live fowls is witnessed in the markets that are in operation. Local vendors said there used to be finless eels and soft-shelled turtles, but after the enforcement of a stringent policy, they have all vanished. (Photos: Li Hao/GT)
