Editor's Note:
Despite offering relatively high salaries of up to10,000 yuan ($1,453) a month, a poultry hatchery in Xi’an’s Gaoling district is finding it hard to recruit chicken sexers, or those able to distinguish the gender of hatchlings. Farmers need to check the sex of newly hatched chicks to determine their use, with roosters being raised for meat and hens for lay eggs. Photos: CFP
