Chongqing’s only female flag-raising squad of colleges and universities was established at Southwest University in 2007. The 34 members of the flag-raising squad are selected from 20 campuses in Southwest University. Candidates for the squad must be over 1.68-meters tall and have “good military qualities.” They were responsible for raising, lowering and protecting the flag while Southwest University holds assemblies.
