Editor's Note:
South African photographer Greg du Toit wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty for this series of breathtaking images of wild elephants at the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. Using a wide-angled camera lens, du Toit, 39, was able to capture every detail of the free-roaming elephants from 2014 to 2017. In order to snap close-ups, du Toit waded neck-deep in muddy pools to get as close to the huge but gentle animals as possible. Photos: Greg Du Toit / Barcroft Images/ CFP
