Baiyangdian Lake, located in Anxin county in North China’s Hebei Province, is the largest freshwater lake in the north of the country and is known as the “kidney of North China”. China announced the establishment of the Xiongan New Area on April 1 as part of a string of measures to advance the integrated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The Xiongan New Area covers the counties of Xiongxian, Rongcheng and Anxin. Photos: CFP
