A number of elephant tusks and panther skins were seized by officers with Cote d’Ivoire's Ministry of Water and Forests on May 9, 2017 in Abidjan. Around 30,000 elephants are slaughtered for their ivory every year, mainly to satisfy demand in Asian markets for products coveted as traditional medicine or status symbols.
