Editor's Note:
An exhibition displaying some 2,000 fireflies in Chengdu, Sichuan Province on June 9, 2017 creates both romantic sceneries and controversy. Local agriculture and forestry department can only look on and do nothing since fireflies are not listed as a protected species in China. Fu Xinhua, an associate professor of Huazhong Agricultural University, told Qianjiang Evening News that the firefly population in China is declining quickly with some species on the edge of extinction. The following photos remind us of the romantic memories these glowing dancing fairies bring.
