In this powerful documentary, director Jennifer Baichwal follows the path of famed Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky’s large scale works about China’s and other Asian countries’ modernization. Burtynsky traveled through China to take photos of terrains changed by man-made constructions, including dams, recycling yards, mines, factories and quarries. Baichwal in turn takes these still pictures of highly industrialized landscapes and endows them with motion. This project, in which one artist examines another’s works, has won critical acclaim as a stunning visual experience.
