Long-term effects of new cross-Straits pact go beyond business world

ECFA will produce a win-win arrangement that benefits both sides. The mainland and Taiwan can compensate each other more conveniently and share technologies and management experience. ECFA will help attract more Taiwanese businessmen to invest in the mainland, and vice versa.
These are also positive elements for the mainland. Moreover, ordinary people in the mainland can enjoy more refined products from Taiwan. ECFA will also promote the long-term development of economic zones at the west bank of the Straits.
Economic exchange between both sides is out of mutual demand and will benefit everyone involved. ECFA is an important historical moment that witness the joining of hands across the Straits in economic field.
However, ECFA's meanings and influence go beyond the economy.
Ultimately the ties between the mainland and Taiwan will be strengthened by ECFA, leading to warmer cooperation in other fields. The agreement is a great boon for the peaceful development of cross-Straits ties.
