Macao celebrates a golden decade

Ten years may not be enough to assess the system's comprehensive strength. But a prosperous Macao has helped break the myth of a Western-style political institution as the only solution to the integration of sovereignty. The federal system, for example, is more desirable within many countries during transition.

The development of Macao in the period after its return to China offers a new perspective for settling political issues, be it an international conflict or a long dispute.

The city's integration with China has given a new impetus to cross- Straits relations, which calls for principled political innovation.

The Chinese should be confident of finding Chinese solutions rooted in their political conditions, and do not need to copy others.
