The perceived lack of romanticism among Chinese men is one reason many women are turning to foreigners. But can Chinese men overcome their traditional timidity to display their romantic side?

Clearly, Chinese boys need to man up and accept that romantic displays are required if they want a chance at getting anywhere with their girlfriends. Unoriginality, reserve, and chickening out of romance will only get them the wrath of neglected women.

But Chinese women need to do their part, and be grateful in accepting gifts regardless of their originality or value. It's baby steps for the men at this point, and any gestures in that direction should be encouraged. Otherwise they'll justify their own negligence by pointing to the women's indifference.

As for me, I have to stop writing, and go shopping!
