Alaba contract extended

German league giants Bayern Munich are set to extend the contract of Austria teenager David Alaba to keep the midfield prodigal talent in Munich until June 2015.

Alaba, who only turns 19 at the end of June, has already made 10 appearances for Austria and spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim.

Having joined Bayern from Austria Vienna in 2008, he is already the youngest player to have represented Austria and was just 17 when he made his Champions League debut for Bayern against Fiorentina in March 2010.

He can play on the left side of midfield or defence and will be competing for a first-team place when Bayern's stars begin pre-season training on July 1.
