A blast took place Friday afternoon in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, at a mosque in the Pakistani Army Headquarter, killing at least 40 people.
The blast started around 1:20 local time in the afternoon and there were in total 12 explosions. The surveillance video at the scene showed that two suicide bombers jumped in from the window of the mosque and threw hand bombs to the people inside. Another two bombers jumped into the crowd and set off suicide bombs. 7 hand bombs were found inside the mosque, and 5 were found outside.
Bodies are all over the mosque. The incident has caused at least 40 deaths and 83 injuries, according to Pakistani official.
The mosque is located in the Pakistani Army Headquarter. Four ambulances arrived to the scene to deliver the casualties, and a white Toyota of the suicide bombers is dragged away by the police.
A military officer at the site told the Global Times that the surrounding areas of the incident are all "sensitive areas". But he refused to elaborate.
Reporters from the Global Times have got messages that “something big” would happen after the traditional Muslim Festival - Eid al-Adha, a few days before the incident.
