An itinerary traveling by car from Xi'an to Chengdu:

Chengdu
1. Xi'an – Hanzhong
Start your journey from Xi'an, a smooth drive west to reach Zhouzhi county, west of Xi'an. Be careful as you cross the Qinling Mountains to reach Hanzhong city, south of Xi'an.

2. Hanzhong – Guangyuan
Starting from Hanzhong, continue driving along the narrow and winding mountain road to head for Guangyuan in Sichuan Province. Be careful and drive at a low speed.
3. Guangyuan – Jianmen Pass
It will take a lot of patience to drive along this section of road since it is narrow, and many trucks pass through this area. Prepare enough food and books for leisure. Traveling along the almost endless Shu Road, Jianmen Pass [Click to see photos...] is a highlight of the journey.
4. Jianmenguan Pass – Chengdu
Here you can enjoy a smooth journey with many tourist attractions: Wuhou (Martial Marquis) Tomb [Click to see photos...] to which you can drive along 108 National Highway and reach Wuhou town (admission: 30 yuan). The Site of Sanxingdui [Click to see photos...] which you can drive to by going along the Chengdu to Mianyang expressway and get off at Guanghan City exit (entrance fee: 50 yuan); Mt. Qingcheng [Click to see photos...] and Dujiangyan [Click to see photos...] (admission: 60 yuan), to which you can drive along Chengguan Expressway.
